TWO Far North Coast surfers will compete on the World Surf League Championship Tour when the Rip Curl Pro begins at Bells Beach, Victoria.

Tweed-based Dane Henry has earned a wildcard entry for the prestigious event, while Evans Head product Callum Robson returns to the tour full time this season.

Robson first joined the Championship Tour in 2022 but missed the mid season cut in 2024.

He requalified after a strong Challenger Series finish, highlighted by victory at the Lexus Pipe event in Hawaii last month.

“I wrote some goals down at the start of the year and I didn’t know whether that was going to happen this year or next year,” Robson said.

“The fact that I actually was able to pull it off, I’m pretty chuffed.”

The 19 year old is only the fifth Australian to win a WSL World Junior Championship and has also claimed an ISA junior world title representing Australia.

Most recently he won the Newcastle Surfest Qualifying Series event.

A strong showing in Victoria could help secure Henry further wildcard opportunities during the Australian leg of the tour, including stops at Margaret River and the Gold Coast.

Byron Bay’s Kyuss King and Lennox Head surfer Mikey McDonagh will contest the Challenger Series this year as they chase qualification for the main tour.

The Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach has a competition window from 1-11 April.
