TWEED Coast Tigers have kicked off preseason Aussie Rules training, with new coaches named for its men’s and women’s teams competing in the Gold Coast competition in 2026.
The women’s squad, which will be aiming for their third premiership in four years, will be led by long-time Tiger Chantelle Brown.
New senior men’s coach Cam Campbell has already overseen a strong preseason, highlighted by a huge turnout at the team’s first session.
Sessions have included skills, drills and fun to encourage new players to the sport.
“Chantelle and Cam are both quality individuals who are equally focused on the people side as well as the football side of our players,” club president Andrew Ryan said.
“They both have incredible resumes to step up into these positions in 2026, and the club is looking forward to supporting their programs.”
The men’s team made big improvements last season with a fifth-place finish seeing them return to the semi-finals. There were eight teams in the competition, with the Tigers the only one to be based in New South Wales.
They are also the only Northern Rivers men’s team to compete in a weekly competition with Ballina, Byron Bay and Lismore playing against each other in a shortened six-week social format last year.
The women defeated Coolangatta in the grand final after claiming silverware in 2023.
Both squads put in a solid training block in the lead-up to Christmas and have returned for the rest of the preseason.
“Returning players, new recruits and aspiring juniors are all invited to get involved in the fitness, fun and mateship,” Ryan said.
