Competition Terms & Conditions

  1. The promoter is: Times News Group whose registered office is at 95 Beach Rd, Torquay, 3228.
  2. The competition is open to residents of Australia aged 18 years or over except employees of Times News Group and their close relatives and anyone otherwise connected with the organisation or judging of the competition.
  3. There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition, however the entrant is further subscribed to the local paper email.
  4. By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.

  6. Only one entry will be accepted per person. Multiple entries from the same person will be disqualified.
  7. Closing date for entry will be outlined on the website and social media. After this date the no further entries to the competition will be permitted.
  8. No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.
  9. The rules of the competition and how to enter are as follows:

You must subscribe to the local paper, either Bellarine Times or Surf Coast Times or both, via the link on the website, unless otherwise stated if the competition is run purely on social media. In this case the details on how to enter will be displayed on the relevant social media channel.

  1. The promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of the promoter’s control. Any changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by the promoter.
  2. The promoter is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party connected with this competition.
  3. The prize is as follows:

The prize is as stated and no cash or other alternatives will be offered. Prizes are subject to availability and we reserve the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice.

  1. Winners will be chosen:
    At random by software if subscribing online method, or using specialized social media random selection software if entering online.
  2. The winner will be notified by email and/or Facebook within 3 days of the closing date. If the winner cannot be contacted or do not claim the prize within 14 days of notification, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement winner.
  3. The promoter will notify the winner when and where the prize can be collected / is delivered.
  4. The promoter’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  5. By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.
  6. The competition and these terms and conditions will be governed by Australian law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia.
  7. The winner agrees to the use of his/her name and image in any publicity material, as well as their entry. Any personal data relating to the winner or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with current Australian data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent.
  8. Entry into the competition will be deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions.
  9. This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook, Twitter or any other Social Network. You are providing your information to Times News group and not to any other party.
  10. Times News Group‘s decision as to those able to take part and selection of winners is final. No correspondence relating to the competition will be entered into.
  11. Times News Group shall have the right, at its sole discretion and at any time, to change or modify these terms and conditions, such change shall be effective immediately upon posting to this webpage.

Surf Coast Community $10,000 AFL Tipping Competition

This year’s competition will expand to see tippers having the ability to select their community group, whilst also attempting to win significant individual prizes.

Community Bank Surf Coast has provided the funding for the community prizes which will be awarded based on their individual tipsters end of year position.

Surf Coast Times have provided the enhanced audience, media profile and also individual weekly and end of year prizes.

Given the nature of the prizes, this competition is only open to those entrants 18 years or older.

The total community groups prize pool is $10,000
First Prize $5,000, Second Prize $3,000, Third Prize $1,500 and Fourth Prize $500. With all winning funds provided to the community group the individual tipster has selected. It is recommended for entrants to reach out via the messaging function of ESPN Footy Tips with your preferred group. If you are in the Top 10 through out the weeks, the Community Bank Surf Coast marketing lead will make contact with you. Once you have selected a group, the ability to change to another group is not permitted.

To ensure that communication is achievable, we are setting the requirement that all competitors allow the Admins of the competition to see your email address, to allow us to make contact for group selection and prize notification. The Email Address used will not be used by Surf Coast Times or Community Bank Surf Coast for marketing related events outside those explicitly stated here.

So what groups are eligible to have your support if you win?

Community Bank Surf Coast are providing the prize money to the groups. The strict requirement of an eligible groups is that the group needs to be an incorporated community or not-for-profit organisation with an ABN, while also meeting the guidelines of the Community Bank Surf Coast Community Investment and Sponsorship policy which can be provided upon request via [email protected].  Examples of eligible groups include Anglesea Football & Netball Club, Surfcoast Torquay Girls Guide & Bellbrae Fire Brigade.

 

How to Enter:

It costs nothing to enter! If you win, your impact to a community group could be huge. As an added bonus, you have the potential of individual weekly or overall prizes as provided by Surf Coast Times.

Prizes

Weekly – $50 voucher to spend at Harry Brown Liquor Torquay*

Weekly prizes are awarded for the person with the highest round score and closest margin as per the weekly table on the ESPN website at the conclusion of the round. If there is a dead heat of entries, the winning entrant will be randomly selected by a Surf Coast Time representative. *Must be over 18 to claim the prize.

Overall End of Season Prize:

1st Prize: $500 Cash & $5,000 for your community group.
2nd Prize: $250 Cash & $3,000 for your community group.
3rd Prize: $100 Cash & $1,500 for your community group.
4th Prize: $50 Cash & $500 for your community group.
Plus, a weekly round winner will receive a $50 voucher to spend at Harry Brown Liquor Torquay*

 

Competition dates 

The Surf Coast Community $10,000 AFL Tipping Competition runs from March 1st, 2024 until August 26th, 2024 (the conclusion of Round 24 of the 2024 AFL Season).

Community groups prize pool winners will be announced on August 27th, 2023 at 10 am and contacted by a Community Bank Surf Coast Representative

Weekly random winners will be announced each Monday at 10am after each round of the 2024 AFL Home & Away Season.

 

Long Hot Summer Night Out – Terms & Conditions

Conditions of Entry:

  1. Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these conditions.
  2. Entry is open to residents of the Ballarat, Golden Plains, Greater Geelong, Surf Coast, and Bellarine regions, and entry is deemed as acknowledgment and acceptance of Conditions of Entry.
  3. Times News Group and Lorne Theatre by Golden Age employees and their immediate families, and any agencies associated with this promotion, are excluded from entry.
  4. The Promotion commences at 6 pm AEDT on Wednesday 28th February 2024 and closes at 11:59 pm AEDT on Thursday 7th February 2024 (‘Promotion Period’).

Prize:

  • Double Pass to Minami Deutsch, Live at Lorne Theatre on March 10, 2024
  • One night accommodation for two on March 10, 2024, in a double or twin single room, at Mantra Lorne with hot buffet breakfast the following morning (maximum two people).
  • $200 food and drinks package at The Clam to be used on March 10, 2024

Note: The prize must be used on March 10th, 2024. Should the winner not be able to attend a redraw will take place.

Prize Terms:

  • The prize cannot be allocated to other persons.
  • Must be over the age of 18 years to be eligible.
  • The prize cannot be sold to third parties; any winners caught will have their tickets voided and be banned from all future Times News Group competitions.

The Competition:

  1. During the Promotion Period entrants can enter by heading to Times News Group and telling us in 25 words or less why they deserve a night away in Lorne.

  3. On Friday 8th March 2024, a random draw will take place.

  5. Should the winner not adhere to competition conditions, a redraw will take place.
