GBEA winner – Business of the Year Award – Cabinets by Computer

No stranger to Geelong Business Excellence Award accolades, Cabinets by Computer has taken out the LBW Business + Wealth Advisors’ Business of the Year Award.

The award is the region’s most prestigious business honour and celebrates the culmination of grit, hard work, and outstanding achievements in business.

After winning the small business award in 2021 and then the innovation award in 2022, it’s a title the company has had firmly in its sights for a while.

Chair of the judging panel Simon Flowers described Cabinets by Computer as “punching above their weight”, stating the team was only just getting started with their “future growth strategies into further international countries”.

Founded in 2002, Cabinets by Computer works to improve the automation process for businesses working in the field of cabinetmaking, helping them save time and money in the workshop, and explore new opportunities.

The business supplies, installs, and supports easy-to-use software solutions to enhance every aspect of a cabinetmaking business, from the start of a project to its end. This includes the design process, quoting and ordering systems, sales, and product construction.

“The judges were impressed with the revolutionary software business which has grown from strength to strength through design, manufacturing and production, and white label online ordering systems for the cabinetmaking industry,” Mr Flowers said.

“Their growth within Australia, as well as New Zealand, has provided significant growth in a very short period of time. They showed great innovation throughout all criteria answered, while also being carbon neutral.”

This year, Cabinets by Computer is also, once again, the recipient of the Innovation, Research & Development Award and was a finalist in the medium to large business award category.

Mr Flowers praised Cabinets by Computer’s “exceptional customer service standards”, marketing approach, and employer of choice strategies, which he said backed up the business’s belief that ‘People are your greatest asset’.

With a strong focus on its culture, Cabinets by Computer works hard to foster a vibrant and collaborative atmosphere, promoting and celebrating the personal and professional growth of its staff.

“The business was very clear on who their target audience was for each product and was also very innovative in their marketing channels, which included a ‘Legends of the Trade’ campaign and a ‘Joinery Juice Lager’ with Bells Beach Brewery,” Mr Flowers said.

“The business also had very strong financial and risk management policies and procedures.”
