GBEA winner – Small Business Award – Create Balance Psychotherapy and Counselling
The compassionate team behind Create Balance Psychotherapy and Counselling know that when your psychological wellbeing is suffering, asking for help can be hard.
Through evidence-based therapies and personalised treatment plans tailored to each individual’s unique needs, Create Balance strives to empower its clients to reclaim their lives and rediscover their inner strength.
Its team approaches their work with the utmost professionalism, while ensuring a warm, supportive and empathetic atmosphere in which its clients can find solace amidst their struggles.
With founder and lead therapist Shannon Bowman at the helm, Create Balance employs a number of advanced mental health treatments and innovative therapies, like Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and laser therapy to help its clients recover from trauma and PTSD.
The Create Balance team also works with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, addiction, relationship difficulties and ADHD, and offers self-paced courses and corporate training.
“I know what it’s like to be faced with personal challenges,” Bowman said.
“And, as difficult and winding the road of life can sometimes seem – there is light at the end of this tunnel.”
In celebration of Create Balance’s commitment to the health and wellbeing of the local community, this year’s judging panel has awarded it the Small Business Award, sponsored by Envisage HR Solutions.
The award recognises a small business operating with the equivalent of between four and 20 full-time employees.
The business was also a finalist in the safe and healthy business, and inclusive and accessible business award categories.
“The judges were really impressed by the way the founder, Shannon Bowman, has been able to create a client-focused business based on his own lived experience,” judge Bill Winter said.
Bowman, who was also the recipient of the Achievement Award for his entrepreneurship in the psychotherapy space at the City of Greater Geelong’s annual People with Disability awards last year, has lived experience of challenging mental health conditions, as well as chronic pain.
Driven by a determination to defy perceived limitations, he has built a thriving business that supports both its staff and the community.
“He has developed innovative and cutting-edge technology enabling many hundreds in our community to recover from trauma, PTSD, ADHD and anxiety,” Mr Winter said.
“Create Balance helps clients get to where they feel they can get control back in their lives and is a well-deserved winner of the Small Business category.”
