Toddler Techno returns to Geelong

Toddler techno architect Lenny Pearce is set to return to Geelong next year for an underwater-inspired baby rave celebrating the 25th anniversary of beloved children’s character SpongeBob SquarePants.

The fun-filled family day out will feature an array of roving performers, facing painting, singing and dancing, along with Pearce’s renowned Toddler Techno Show.

Pearce will also be joined on stage by his friend Kuma the Monkey as well as some special guests to honour a quarter of a century of Bikini Bottom’s favourite fry cook SpongeBob SquarePants.

“My Reef Rave is the ultimate day out for the modern family, from newborns through to grandparents – I’ve seen them all from the last tour,” Pearce said.

“It’s an interactive show for the kids, and fun music for both kids and parents.

“Families always dress up at my shows, so I’m excited to see how the outfits look at an underwater themed event.”

Considered one of the fastest-rising stars in the electronic music scene, Pearce has quickly gained a global reputation for remixing songs that toddlers know and that parents can also enjoy.

Pearce first launched onto the music scene in 2010 as a member of Australian dance-pop collective Justice Crew, which went on to win reality television talent show Australia’s Got Talent that same year.

The multi-platinum DJ and dad has since released a #1 ARIA accredited techno album with The Wiggles, cemented his status as an industry trailblazer with his popular remixes of Wheels On The Bus and Macarena, and entertained families all over the world with his infectious YouTube videos.

Pearce said the Reef Rave evolved from one of his other musical creations, a reworking of another popular children’s television show theme song.

“Earlier this year, I remixed a few theme songs like the Paw Patrol theme song. It went viral on social media, which opened the doors to working much more closely with Nickelodeon,” he said.

“SpongeBob is turning 25 this year, so we thought it would be good to celebrate his birthday together.

“We’re planning on having him attend some shows, take photos with the little ones, maybe even sing happy birthday at each show.

“SpongeBob played a huge role in everyone’s childhood so we’re going to involve him as much as we can in each city. It’s really exciting!”

Pearce’s Reef Rave tour will hit Geelong Arts Centre on March 2, 2025.

One dollar from every ticket sold will be donated to the Children’s Hospital Foundation, a charity that funds equipment, research and on-the-ground support for children with all illnesses, injuries and conditions across Queensland and northern New South Wales.
