ONE of the region’s longest running and successful golf charity days has again lived up to its reputation.

The 21st annual Adroit Insurance & Risk Charity Golf Day was held last week in Barwon Heads at the renowned 13th Beach Golf Links, bringing in more than $100,000 to local charities.

Gathering local businesses through camaraderie, community spirit and a touch of competition on the course, a total of 156 players took part in the coveted Adroit Charity Golf Day Cup.

Harveys of Highton were crowned winners for their efforts prior to the festivities hosted by professional golfer and 3AW/SEN radio presenter Mark Allen later in the day and Duncan Skene of Maxwell Collins as auctioneer.

In total, the event raised $110,715, with $75,000 allocated to the Adroit Insurance & Risk capital grant, and the remaining funds supporting Adroit’s community partner, the Geelong Community Foundation.

The $75,000 grant was awarded this year to Geelong’s The Empowerment Challenge, for the crucial work it does to supporting younger mothers.

“We’re proud to contribute to The Empowerment Challenge’s impactful work through this year’s capital grant,” Adroit Insurance & Risk’s Geelong managing principal Tim Holloway said.

“We extend our gratitude to all participants, sponsors, and supporters who made the day such a success, further strengthening the Geelong community.”

Geelong Community Foundation CEO Amy Waters said the foundation is proud to partner with Adroit Insurance & Risk to support the golf day.

“The Adroit Insurance & Risk Golf Day Grant offers a wonderful opportunity to engage the insurance industry and other Adroit Partners in philanthropy and to raise awareness of the challenges and opportunities in the local community. “

“The Empowerment Challenge is having a profound impact on the lives of younger mums and their families, many of whom are experiencing social isolation, family violence, mental ill health and housing issues. The $75,000 Adroit Capital grant will enable The Empowerment Challenge to purchase a vehicle that will support younger mums to access critical supports.”

The grant will go towards a new van for the program, providing long-term accessibility to services promoting mental health, well-being, mentorship, and community connection.
