Bell Park’s new CDS Vic depot powers community recycling and fundraising
The Bell Park CDS Vic depot is a bigger and fully indoors facility featuring a convenient drive-through making it easier for people returning their containers.
RESIDENTS now have a faster, easier way to return containers for a refund and raise money for local charities, following the opening of a new CDS Vic depot at 15 Hume Reserve Court, Bell Park.
The depot, run by West Zone operator TOMRA Cleanaway’s partner Sell & Parker, officially opened recently.
Replacing the old Bell Park site, the new facility is bigger, fully indoors and features a convenient drive-through, making it ideal for residents, schools, clubs and charities returning bottles, cans and cartons in bulk.
TOMRA Cleanaway’s chief executive officer, James Dorney, said the strong turnout on opening morning showed how much the community values practical recycling options.
“Every container returned here is one less in landfill or litter,” he said.

On opening day, visitors enjoyed complimentary coffee from the on-site coffee cart, a Welcome to Country, and a visit from Hamlyn Heights ward councillor Eddy Kontelj, who praised the partnership behind the new depot.
“This facility gives Bell Park residents a modern, convenient place to do the right thing,” he said.
“It supports council’s sustainability goals, creates local economic activity and helps community groups raise much-needed funds.”
Guests also joined guided tours and a meet and greet with the depot team, seeing first-hand what happens to containers once they’re dropped off.

Luke Parker, co-chief executive of Sell & Parker, said the new depot was designed around ease and efficiency.
“People love the drive-through, they can stay in their cars while our team does the heavy lifting,” he said.
“Whether it’s a few bags from home or a big fundraiser collection, we want to make every visit quick, friendly and worthwhile.”
Residents and community groups can now visit the Bell Park depot during opening hours to turn their drink containers into cash, either for themselves or for a cause close to home.
