Bellarine Open Day showcases coastal retirement living
Set in the heart of the Bellarine Peninsula, Abervale is known for its leafy, established grounds, warm community culture and welcoming village teams.
KEYTON is inviting the local community to explore the best of over-55s coastal living with the Bellarine Open Day, featuring Windsor Park and Abervale retirement villages in Geelong on Friday 20 March from 9am to 2pm.
The event is part of the wider Bellarine and Mornington Peninsula Retirement Villages Open Day, offering visitors a unique opportunity to tour multiple retirement villages across the region in one seamless drive-and-discover experience.
Set in the heart of the Bellarine Peninsula, Abervale and Windsor Park are known for their leafy, established grounds, warm community culture and welcoming village teams.
Both villages offer low-maintenance living and a vibrant social atmosphere – all within easy reach of cafes, retail, healthcare and Geelong’s major attractions.
For many residents, these villages represent more than a new address – they represent the moment they said “I choose a lifestyle that feels right for me.”

Throughout the day, visitors can join walk-and-talk discovery tours guided by village staff and friendly residents who are eager to share their experiences.
Guests are encouraged to grab a cuppa or bottled water as they explore and enjoy a snack at each stop while they examine community lounges, gardens, activity hubs and outdoor facilities.
Visitors often describe an immediate sense of warmth when they arrive.
As Jan shared: “The minute you drive in, it feels like home – green, established, comfortable.”
It’s a feeling many residents say helped them realise: “I choose a home that really feels like one.”
For Marjorie, the decision felt instinctive: “It all just made sense – the layout, the community, the gated security. It felt meant to be.”
“Downsizing is a big emotional step, but doing it early meant I could choose the lifestyle I wanted rather than being rushed into decisions,”she added.
Her story reflects a common sentiment among residents – choosing confidence, choice and control in their next chapter.

Peter and Helen echoed this, saying: “People welcomed us straight away… Everyone’s been through the same journey, so they really get it.”
Their experience captures the heart of village life: “I choose community. I choose belonging.”
And for Andrew, the freedom was the clincher: “I love the lock-up-and-go lifestyle. I can travel for weeks knowing everything is safe and taken care of.”
His early visit sealed the deal: “Everyone knew my name by the time I arrived.” It was a moment of realisation that “I choose a place where life becomes easier – and richer.”
