MORE than 30 projects will share in $2,674,090 worth of Community Infrastructure and Geelong Heritage Grants from the City of Greater Geelong.

The grants will help upgrade and construct new facilities, renew infrastructure, increase programs and improve how spaces function across the community.

The scheme features 19 capital works projects, including upgrades to the Geelong Ballroom Dance Club’s Kendall room, installation of LED flood lighting at Hurst Reserve, and a raised undercover deck at Lara Swimming Club.

The Drysdale Football Club and Geelong Rangers Soccer Club were among the eight projects to secure Community Infrastructure funding.

The Manifold Heights house, Christ Church Anglican Parish Geelong, Matthew Flinders Secondary College and a Drumcondra residence all shared in $90,000 in four separate Geelong Heritage grants.

Geelong mayor Trent Sullivan congratulated the 31 recipients on their successful applications.

“Council thanks the successful applicants for making a positive difference in our region by offering social connection and encouraging physical activity,” Cr Sullivan said.

“We are thrilled to be able to support these important community groups with more than $2.7 million to improve facilities, celebrate heritage and increase participation.

“Together, we are creating a happier and more resilient region.”
