SURF therapy charity Ocean Mind will get a special delivery of donated wetsuits this week thanks to the initiative of 21-year-old Eve Alexiadis.

The university student and keen surfer from Ocean Grove announced on social media that she had collected 76 wetsuits and was thrilled with the result.

“I would just like to take a moment to thank the community and their overwhelming generosity towards the Ocean Mind Wetsuit Drive,” Eve said.

“We received so many incredible donations, from the coolest retro wetsuits to brand-new wetsuits and every size in between.

“Overall we collected 76 wetsuits which are absolutely incredible.”

Eve said many pairs of booties and other accessories were also donated during the surf gear drive which was supported by Green Room in Ocean Grove and Whiteroom Snow in Torquay.

“I cannot thank you all enough, Ocean Mind is incredibly grateful and the gear will be loved by many adolescents braving the surf,” Eve said.

Ocean Mind relies on donations to deliver its therapeutic surf programs for youth experiencing mental health challenges, social isolation and disabilities.
