BELL Post Hill’s newest kindergarten will receive a $300,000 funding boost to assist with the purchase of new furniture, fixtures and equipment.

Covenant College’s three-room kindergarten is currently under construction in Creamy Road and will open its doors to young learners next year.

“This investment will ensure the new kinder being built right now at Covenant College has the modern facilities and equipment it needs to help children learn, play and grow,” Lara MP Ella George said.

It is one of almost 30 new kindergartens to receive funds through the state government’s Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment Funding Policy for the purchase of desks and chairs, blinds and lamps, appliances such as stoves and dishwashers, and other much-needed equipment.

The policy adds to the government’s $14 billion Best Start, Best Life early childhood education reforms, aimed at helping families save money and supporting more women to return to the workforce.

Minister for Children Lizzie Blandthorn said young children have so much to gain and learn from the opportunities provided through kindergarten.

“We’re opening new kinders across the state and making sure they have the equipment they need from day one,” she said.

“Every year we’re delivering more kinder places in modern facilities and saving families up to $2,500 per year, to make sure every child in Victoria gets the best start in life.”
