Some of Australia’s best artistic companies will be stepping on stage in front of local audiences in Geelong Arts Centre’s 2023 season.

Announced earlier this week, the centre said the 19 shows in Geelong Arts Centre Presents 2023 are “a magnificent suite of performances… that break boundaries, start conversations, and celebrate innovation”.

Companies bringing their works to Geelong next year include Sydney Theatre Company, Opera Australia, The Australian Ballet, Sydney Dance Company and Griffin Theatre Company.

The Family Magic program will continue to provide families with an opportunity to immerse themselves in the magic of the performing arts, while Delightful Days & Matinees (formerly Musical Mornings) returns with two unmissable performances, bringing some of Australia’s best-loved performers to Geelong for memorable daytime experiences.

Next year, Geelong Arts Centre will also introduce audiences of the region to REWIRE, a new program delivering an assortment of acts that celebrate new art, contemporary Australian voices and immersive experiences with a modern edge.

Geelong Arts Centre Presents 2023 will be held across multiple venues as the centre nears completion of its Little Malop Street redevelopment next year.

“As a leader, connector, and creator of extraordinary cultural experiences, Geelong Arts Centre is driven by a spirit for experimentation to bring new content and cultural experiences to Geelong,” Geelong Arts Centre chief executive officer and creative director Joel McGuinness said.

“We are proud to present an amazing array of performances through our 2023 Geelong Arts Centre programs that break boundaries, start conversations, and celebrate innovation.”

Geelong Arts Centre Presents 2023 is supported by the Victorian government through Creative Victoria, major artistic partner Deakin University, and innovation partner Costa Asset Management.

“Through shared values that foster creativity and inclusivity through education, research and innovation, our partnership delivers dynamic arts and cultural experiences for all community members, and we are thrilled to support vital storytelling across Geelong Arts Centre Presents 2023,” Deakin University vice-chancellor Professor Iain Martin said.
