GEELONG will send off 2025 in colour and light, with fireworks locked in for New Year’s Eve at the waterfront.
Geelong mayor, Stretch Kontelj, said the City of Greater Geelong was once again delivering a free celebration to mark the start of the new year.
“The city will once again be putting on an incredible fireworks display to bring in 2026 in style.
“There will be two displays – one at midnight, and one at the family-friendly time of 9.30pm.
“The community will be able to see the fireworks from all around the waterfront, as they will be fired from a barge on Corio Bay.”
Community members are encouraged to mark the occasion by gathering with friends and family, supporting central Geelong’s hospitality venues or settling in at a favourite vantage point.

Each show will run for about eight minutes, and the city’s floating Christmas Tree will remain a feature of the evening.
“Our floating Christmas Tree will be active with shows every 15 minutes from 8.30pm – midnight on New Year’s Eve,” Cr Kontelj said.
Eastern Beach Road will be closed between Moorabool Street and Yarra Street from 8pm on December 31 until 12.30am on January 1, and motorists are being urged to plan ahead.
Pet owners are also encouraged to take precautions ahead of the displays to ensure their pets remain calm and safe.
