ENTRIES have opened for the 2025 edition of Geelong Gallery’s Future Creatives exhibition.

The annual exhibition showcases the innovative work of Geelong’s emerging artists and, for many, provides their first opportunity to display their work on the walls of a gallery.

To be held between February 22 and March 30, next year’s exhibition will celebrate the achievements and creative work of students who completed their Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) in 2024.

The works of 10 local high school students were included in the 2024 iteration of Future Creatives, including students from Belmont High School, Bellarine Secondary College, Clonard College and Matthew Flinders Girls’ Secondary College.

The works selected by the judging panel spanned several mediums – including paint, embroidery, sculpture and film – and were chosen for the strength of their technique as well as the artist’s conceptual and perceptual development.

“We are thrilled to once again showcase the exceptional work of our local students who have achieved outstanding results,” Elishia Furet, Geelong Gallery’s learning and audience engagement manager, said.

“Geelong Gallery is [committed] to promoting and celebrating arts education in this region.”

Entries will close on Wednesday, November 20 at 5pm, with the exhibition shortlist to be announced on December 13.
