About 260 players teed off at the St Joseph’s College Golf Day last Friday, making it one of the biggest and most memorable outings in the event’s history.

The traditional fixture combined friendly competition, community spirit and meaningful fundraising for the St Joseph’s College (SJC) bursary fund.

The fund was established in 2008 to financially support students who would otherwise be unable to attend the college.

The program contributes toward school fees, uniforms, books and stationery, and extra-curricular activities or music lessons.

Perfect weather and a beautifully presented course at Lonsdale Links had attendees in a giving mood, helping to generate more than $33,000 to support SJC students.

SJC Geelong director of community and development, Kristen Gleeson, said the all-boys institution was thrilled with the fundraising outcome.

“A vibrant atmosphere made it a standout occasion for players, sponsors and volunteers alike,” Gleeson said.

“It was a fantastic celebration of community generosity and a great day out on course.”
