THE Geelong Revival Motoring Festival will return to its original weekend this November following the overwhelming success of the postponed 2021 event held in March.

Motorsport fanatics will be treated to a second Revival Festival from November 25 to 27 with adrenaline-filled sprint racing and vintage celebrations of motoring again taking over the scenic Geelong waterfront.

”The overwhelming support for the March event marked a resounding success for us,” event director Nicholas Heath said.

“With lockdowns and last-minute cancellations hopefully in the rear-view mirror, people are hungrier than ever to get out and do things on their weekends.”

The annual celebration has typically been held on the last weekend of November, serving as the last major event on the motorsport calendar and providing a chance for Geelong residents to welcome the summer months down on the waterfront.

This year’s first event tied in on the same weekend of Geelong-based performances from popular music bands Foo Fighters and Midnight Oil further adding to its overall success in roaring to life, which has led organisers to be confident about major events being back.

“The Geelong Revival Motoring Festival offers the perfect day out for everyone, regardless of whether you’re a car nut down in the pits or just enjoying the sun on the Eastern Beach hill,” Mr Heath said.

The Geelong Revival Motoring Festival and its predecessor, the Geelong Speed Trials, maintain a nostalgic spot in the hearts of Geelong locals, many of whom got their first taste of motor racing over the 66-year history of the two events.

2022’s second Revival Festival will be completely different compared to March’s event. The three-day festival will be filled with new racers, new exhibitions and more as details will be released closer to November.
