A GIANT Easter egg hunt will take over the Geelong Racecourse this weekend, as a new family festival makes its debut.
Running from 3–6 April, the Geelong Easter Fest will offer four days of activities and entertainment for families.
Event organiser Nikita McDonald of Pixie’s Events said the idea was to create an affordable outing for families.
“We knew there was nothing of this nature in Geelong,” McDonald said.

“I just wanted to bring a really good, fun, family-friendly event with plenty of value for families and kids across the four days of the Easter weekend.”
At the centre of the festival is a 50m Easter egg hunt along the racecourse straight, with hidden golden eggs offering bonus prizes.
The program also includes carnival rides, showbags, pony rides, an animal farm, market stalls and live entertainment throughout the day, with roving performers and stage acts adding to the atmosphere.
“We want people sit out on the grass, enjoy the sun, listen to some music and just have a really nice day out for the whole family,” she said.

If the event proves successful, McDonald said it will return again next year.
Entry is $5 online or $7.50 at the gate, with organisers encouraging families to pre-book to help manage crowd numbers across the four days.
