HAMLYN Banks Primary School will receive $500,000 for essential upgrades, as part of an ongoing state government maintenance blitz.

The blitz, delivered through the state’s planned maintenance program, aims to fund high-priority repairs and essential maintenance works, such as fixing roofs and resurfacing floors, across Victoria’s government schools.

The Hamlyn Heights school is one of 30 to receive a boost in the program’s latest funding round and will use its allocation to carry out a number of improvements to its facilities, including a hydraulic fire safety system upgrade.

It is the second time this year the primary school has secured funds through the program, after it received $150,000 in February to rebuild ramps across its Chaucer Street site.

“I’m proud to support Hamlyn Banks Primary School with this investment, ensuring students in Hamlyn Heights have access to a world-class learning environment and the facilities they need to thrive,” Lara MP Ella George said.

This year, the state’s planned maintenance program has funded 300 projects across 280 schools at a cost of $105.5 million.

The works are prioritised through a rolling facilities evaluation process.

“We are making sure every student can access the best education in the best learning environment,” Education Minister Ben Carroll said.

“From a fresh coat of paint in classrooms to ensuring crucial emergency shelters are in good condition, this latest maintenance blitz will ensure all Victorian students have safe and modern learning spaces.”
