NOVOTEL Geelong has announced the appointment of Scott Bear as its new general manager.

Mr Bear brings a decade of experience in the hospitality industry, having worked across a diverse range of departments and hotels, from midscale to luxury.

His passion for hands-on leadership and his dedication to creating memorable experiences for both guests and colleagues have made him an emerging leader in the industry.

Mr Bear studied a Bachelor of International Hotel Management at the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School from 2015 to 2017.

His other accomplishments include completing the Accor Post Graduate Program in 2021 and being appointed to his first general manager role, managing Mercure Sydney Manly Warringah, at the age of 26.

He was named runner-up for Australian Rising Star of the Year at the HM Awards, and his initiatives include becoming the first sponsor of the Manly Sea Eagles women’s NRL team.

“I’m thrilled to join Novotel Geelong and to have the opportunity to contribute to such a vibrant region,” he said.

“I look forward to working with our team to elevate the guest experience, while building meaningful partnerships with the local community.”

Mr Bear is also known for his dedication to giving back to the community.

His philanthropic efforts include personally raising more than $14,000 for the Children’s Cancer Institute through CEO Dare to Cure, where he shaved his head and participated in a skydive.

He has also championed opportunities for the disability sector through his involvement with Hotel Etico, Australia’s first social enterprise hotel.
