A brace of fish and chip shops in Geelong’s north are among the leading exponents of their craft outside metropolitan Melbourne, according to a statewide competition backed by one of the world’s leading producers of frozen chips.
Six Ways Fish & Chips in Lara and Norlane Fish & Chips in Norlane are two of only three finalists in the Best Regional Store category of this year’s Harvest Choice Fush & Chip Awards.
Six Ways Fish & Chips is also one of the 10 finalists in the overall Best Fish and Chips award.
The awards, sponsored by US-based frozen potato and fries company Lamb Weston, celebrate the stores that are a classic part of Australian takeaway culture, with the Best Regional Store category highlighting businesses serving Victoria’s regional communities with pride and passion.

Following a detailed review of submissions, the judging panel selected finalists that demonstrated a strong commitment to all facets of the trade.
Judging occurs in three stages: a written entry review, shortlisting, and secret shopper visits to assess food quality, service, and overall customer experience.
Category winners will be announced later this month, with recipients to receive a cash prize, certificate, and promotional support.
