Surf Coast Arts Trail to return

March 5, 2020 BY

Minerva Lamorgese White's newfound medium is pàpier-màchè.

ARTISTS from the region are encouraged to register for this year’s Surf Coast Arts Trail, to be held on August 8 and 9.

Entering its ninth year, the trail sees creative people across a diverse range of mediums open their studio doors to those interested in seeing artists at work.

Anglesea artist Minerva Lamorgese White made her debut on the art map last year and said it was a surprising experience.

“I loved how the visitors wanted to hear the stories behind my artworks and creations, and how I was inspired by my daughter,” she said.

“I experienced beautiful interactions with the visitors, made sales and had many opportunities for future works.”

Ms White, whose brand Mivart Creations showcases her transition from children’s book illustrator to pàpier-màchè sculptor, is preparing to open her studio again for this year’s weekend long celebration of Surf Coast talent.

Artist registrations for the popular event are now open, with local creatives encouraged to participate.

The trail welcomes all art forms – from pottery to blacksmithing, painting to jewellery, printmaking to woodworking, and much more.

Ms White encouraged other artists considering being part of the Surf Coast Arts Trail to “go for it and enjoy”.

“To all local artists out there, I strongly recommended participating,” she said.

“I worked hard day and night to prepare as much artwork as possible and to make the studio a welcoming, warm venue filled with art and creations.

“I would also suggest getting in touch with other artists who have already participated. I found it a lovely experience to connect and get to know more wonderful creative minds.”
