TRADIES across the country are being asked to “pink up” at work, host a fundraising event and start a conversation with others to help raise awareness for breast cancer and support the 20,030 Australians expected to be diagnosed with the disease this year.

Supporting this is Independent Electrical Wholesaler Middy’s, as their branches across the region and the nation get behind the initiative, giving away the well-known complimentary pink beanies to all account customers.

In return for the beanies, Middy’s encourages their customers to make a donation to Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) and branches will supply a card with instructions on how they can make their donations by texting “MIDDYS” to 0476 000 111.

Branch manager of Middy’s in Geelong, Patrick Keating, believes raising funds for breast cancer will help many of those who will be diagnosed, but also help them in getting the services that they need to beat it.

“The ripple effect of a breast cancer diagnosis flows through not only the individual diagnosed, but to their friends, families, colleagues and in their local community,” Mr Keating said.

“Through this campaign, we will help raise much needed funds for BCNA to continue providing essential information and support services to those affected by breast cancer.”

Middy’s has a well-established relationship with BCNA, having raised more than $100,000 over the past four years thanks to several Ladies Luncheon functions across the country.

2021 is the first year the company will be the sole partner for this year’s Pink Tradie campaign and there are five branches across Geelong, the Bellarine and the Surf Coast where pink beanies can be obtained (Geelong, Geelong North, Grovedale, Torquay and Ocean Grove).

Between August 9 and September 30, every photo posted to social media wearing BCNA merchandise and using the hashtag #BCNApinktradie, will go into the draw to win one of three $500 gift cards from Middy’s Electrical.
