Two Geelong coronavirus sites confirmed

Barwon Health is advising people who attended the exposure sites to get tested.

The Department of Health and Human Services has confirmed two Geelong venues were exposed to the coronavirus on May 22.

Barwon Health spokesperson Kate Bibby said the department alerted Barwon Health to the exposure sites yesterday (Saturday, June 12).

Both sites have been classified as Tier 2.

Barwon Health advises if you attended the following venues at the times listed you must get tested and isolate until you receive a negative result:
May 22 between 6.37pm – 9.23pm – The Geelong Arena: 110 Victoria St, North Geelong.
May 22 between 2.20pm – 3.45pm – The Sphinx Hotel: 2 Thompson Road, North Geelong.

“Anyone who has COVID-19 symptoms or has been to an exposure site should get tested, and follow the Department of Health’s instructions,” Ms Bibby said.

“It’s also an important step to get vaccinated if you are eligible and want to help protect the community, while also staying informed on outbreaks and exposure sites as the situation develops.

“Wearing masks, hand hygiene and social distancing remain the most effective ways to reduce transmission.”
