TYLER Wright has gone back to back at Bells Beach, ringing the Bell again after winning the women’s Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach in convincing fashion today (Tuesday, April 11).

Facing off against world no. 1 and fellow Australian Molly Picklum, Wright started slowly in the crosswind conditions at Winkipop but came alive with huge rides on excellent waves to record consecutive scores of 7.83 and 8.17.

Under serious pressure, Picklum replied with waves of 5.83 and 6.17 but was left chasing an enormous score for the rest of the final.

Wright’s win makes her the ninth woman to have consecutive wins at the Pro.

“This one felt a bit different [than 2022] but it’s an absolute honour to surf here,” Wright said after her win.

“I feel really at home here and really safe and able to open up a lot.”

Today was first time since 1991 there had been an all-Australian final in both the men’s and women’s finals at Bells, when Barton Lynch defeated Damien Hardman and Pauline Menczer won over Michele Donoghoe.

Wright’s path to the Bell:

  • Defeated Gabriela Bryan in the Round of 16
  • Defeated Carissa Moore in the Quarter-Final
  • Defeated Stephanie Gilmore in the Semi-Final
  • Defeated Molly Picklum in the Final
