New chance to settle at Stretton

The newest land lots at Torquay North have hit the market this week in a chance to snap up increasingly rare residential land blocks within the seaside town.

McCartney Real Estate has launched sales of the seventh stage of Stretton Torquay, located within easy reach of South Beach Road and Horseshoe Bend Road, and the nearby Torquay Coast and Lisieux Catholic primary schools.

The seventh stage of the Torquay development consists of 16 allotments starting at 383sqm to 503 sqm, with prices ranging from $595,000 to $710,000.

Stretton Torquay is a development of land from the estate of Andrew White – for whom the town’s Whites Beach is named, and who is considered one of the early entrpreneurs of Geelong and Torquay through an association to the district that stretches back more than 150 years.

The former estate was in excess of 9,000 acres from Mount Duneed to Torquay before its dispersal in 1952 through a large public auction.

The resulting development draws on the history of White’s estate and build a lasting legacy for the community.

Stretton’s master-planned community maps out future developments that will form a neighbourhood that stretches to the Surf Coast Highway and integrates with a proposed new community hospital and Surf Coast Secondary College.

Features such as a central bus link, a linear park including exercise stations and shared use paths, and pathways linking schools and wetlands are proposed in the completed development.
