BANNOCKBURN is looking forward to the opportunity to host on Anzac Day in the GDFL seniors.

The Tigers and Inverleigh will lock horns at Victoria Park at 2pm on Friday, April 25, following the Easter break.

Coach Ronnie Pilgrim said the annual tradition against the Hawks always made for a special day.

“We alternate [venues] each year, it’s massive, we always get a great turnout, we’re old foes.

“The club has gone one step further this year, there’s going to be some stuff for the kids on the back oval and a movie night after the game.”

Bailey Kelly kicked six goals as the Tigers accounted for Corio 16.16 (112) to 12.21 (93) in Round 2 following their 17-point loss to East Geelong.

Pilgrim was happy with the spread of contributors against the Devils but said their skills weren’t great under pressure, which led to turnovers.

He said the players would go to work on their skill execution as well as forward entries and goal-kicking.

He added the team took confidence from their narrow opening round defeat to the Eagles, who he said were “probably the side to beat this year”.

“We won a lot of the game but East Geelong’s class came to the top.

“We walked out of that thinking out best is good enough.”

Pilgrim said former Geelong West ruck Rhys Ginn had been outstanding and the Tigers’ best player two weeks in a row.

All other matches are on April 26 with Winchelsea and Corio playing a twilight fixture at Eastern Reserve at 5.30pm.
