THE Geelong Falcons’ NAB League Girls side has missed out on a second premiership, going down to the Oakleigh Chargers in Sunday’s grand final.

The decider for the national under-19 girls’ competition, held at Werribee’s Avalon Airport Oval, saw the Chargers kick four goals to one in the first quarter and extend their lead to 30 points at half-time.

The Falcons kicked three goals to two in the third quarter but could only draw one point closer over the rest of the game, Oakleigh eventually finishing 37-point winners.

Chargers midfielder Amanda Ling was named best on ground after recording a game-high 20 disposals, 10 tackles and three inside 50s.

Gabby Featherston, Poppy Schaap and Tess Craven were among the best for Geelong.

The Falcons had come from sixth position to qualify for the decider.
