The tee up: this week in golf
Strong scoring in Stableford and par competitions, along with a successful women’s Ambrose, highlighted another busy week of golf across The Sands, Torquay and Anglesea.
At The Sands, Simon Prymke (10) won Monday 22 June’s medley Stableford with 38 points before Callum Ashley (21) produced the best midweek round, posting 40 points to win Wednesday’s C-grade Stableford. David Pemberton (20) also impressed with 39 points to claim B-grade.
Thursday’s women’s three-to-four person Ambrose was won by Jennifer Nolan, Jan Swain, Lisa Reade and Tami Batson with a score of 62.375.
Friday’s medley Stableford saw Josh Richardson (14) and Terry Powell (31) each post 41 points to win their grades, while Saturday’s par competition was highlighted by Jarrod Malesevich’s (16) outstanding +6 in B-grade. Timothy Jarman (3) won A-grade with +3 and Paulette Payne (24) claimed the women’s event with +4.
Sunday’s competition closed with Matt Berry (11) posting 40 points to win B-grade, while Luke Slater (1) took A-grade with 37.
Torquay’s weekly competitions again produced plenty of strong scoring. Brad Walsh (19) won Monday’s medley Stableford with 39 points before Chris Barr and Cheryl Mostyn combined to win Tuesday’s 4BBB par on countback.
Wednesday’s Stableford featured 39-point rounds from Nathan Weber (2), Marty Stewart (14) and Steve Marshall (19), while Thursday delivered the highest individual scores of the week, with Trevor Deutrom (26) posting 42 points and Lisa Patterson (38) 44.
Andrew Diamond (12) won Friday’s A-grade Stableford with 40 points before Saturday’s par competition saw Luke Szczepanik (17) and Kristian Green (25) record +4 to top their grades. Lyn Moore (13) won the women’s event with +3, while David Clark added an eagle.
Sunday’s Stableford belonged to Ado Cations (1), whose 41 points secured A-grade, while Rob Morris (13) and Kim Dummett (21) won B-grade and the women’s competition respectively.
At Anglesea, Billy Hordern (17) produced the best score of Wednesday’s men’s par competition with +5, while Ike Hardman (3) won A-grade at +2.
Kate Stanley (42) led Thursday’s women’s par with +2 on countback before Shane Denahy (23) posted 40 points to win Saturday’s C-grade Stableford. Kent Taylor (14) won A-grade with 39 points and Kitty O’Connor (39) claimed the women’s event.
Mark Burgess (18) rounded out the week by winning Sunday’s medley par with +3.
