GEELONG Cats supporters will have plenty of star power to look forward to in AFLW Season 9 following the mass extension of 26 players on the club’s female list.

The signatures are headlined by the side’s trio of superstars in Georgie Prespakis, Nina Morrison, and Becky Webster, all of whom have committed to four-year extensions.

The extension announcement entirely locks away the senior playing group for 2024, with Brisbane’s Bella Smith making her way to the Cattery to replace retiring Cat Renee Garing.

The Cats also used two of their three draft picks, selecting Chantal Mason (pick 18 – Geelong Falcons) and Bryde O’Rourke (pick 23 – Bendigo Pioneers), and passing on pick 41.

Becky Webster is one of three Cats players to secure four-year extensions.

Geelong assistant general manager of football Brett Johnson said it was great to retain the core of the list.

“All players in our squad last year played a key role in our success, and to be able to retain the majority of our list is exciting and we can’t wait to continue to build next year.

“Ten players have committed to the club longer term, which has enabled us to lock away a strong core group of players that can continue to lead our program forward from both a team performance and culture perspective.”

Forwards Chloe Scheer and Jackie Parry will remain at Geelong until at least the end of 2026, with the pair inking three-year contract extensions alongside Mikayla Bowen.

Quartet Amy McDonald, Chantel Emonson, Julia Crockett-Grills and Georgie Rankin have signed multi-year deals.

The remaining 13 players will remain at the Cats until at least the end of next season.
