Queenscliff puts call out for junior coaches

December 17, 2020 BY

Queenscliff celebrates the AFL Barwon under-15 division junior premiership in 2019, with many of these players taking the field again in 2021 after missing the majority of this season.

QUEENSCLIFF Football Club is seeking coaches for its under-19 and under-17 teams.

The Coutas have a range of junior teams that require coaches, but the club has already had a number of parents voice their interest for the younger levels.

Football director Peter Caddy said the club was keen to get an enthusiastic coach who had an eye towards player development to lead its juniors into the senior level.

“We’re just looking for someone who is enthusiastic, up to scratch with the current method of coaching and knowledge of the game,” Caddy said.

“Whoever is keen to take it on will get plenty of support and assistance from the committee .”

The successful candidates will have the opportunity to work closely with the senior coaching panel, often with top-end juniors also playing at the senior level.

Senior coach Steve Clark highlighted the important link, coaching both the senior and under-17 teams last season.

“There will be an opportunity to learn from the senior coach and it’s important they are able to liaise about player development,” Clark said.

“The coaches will be well-supported and receive any assistance required from the committee.”

Queenscliff boasts teams in all age groups, including its under-17 team playing in division one in the AFL Barwon junior football competition.

Caddy said the club was excited to continue the juniors progression as it builds towards 2021.

“We’re looking forward to the next season given that this was a challenging one for everyone,” he said.

“We’re looking forward the development of our juniors players.”
