Torquay dominate East Coast surf event
TORQUAY Boardriders Club made a clean sweep at the East Coast Cashie surfing event last weekend on the Mornington Peninsula, winning both premier divisions.
Xavier Huxtable and Ellie Harrison were victorious in the open men’s and women’s disciplines, ousting competitors from across the state to take home the $2,500 prize each.
Club president Tully Wylie challenged Huxtable for the title and finished in second place.
Angela Ball placed in fourth, Willis Droomer secured a fifth place and Bella Wilson placed ninth.
Mr Wylie said he was proud of his teammate’s efforts in tough conditions.
“We had four out of six surfers in the final and to take out both divisions was amazing,” he said.
“It showed the depth we have in our club, and we will be winning these events for a long time.”
He added the club has highly competitive aspirations for the next 12 months.
“Our goals are to continue putting in our best performances through the state events and to win the Australian Boardriders Battle in 2026.”
Torquay Boardriders kicked off its 2025 season with its annual single fin classic this past weekend.
