TORQUAY made it two from two to start the GCA Division 2 season, defeating Geelong City by four wickets.

The Tigers bowled brilliantly, led by Damian O’Brien (5-30), to have City reeling at 7-37 before the tail wagged to post a total of 109.

Torquay had little issue tracking down the total, losing six wickets as Henry Collins (4-17) did his best to cause a collapse.

Meanwhile, Alexander Thomson was left wondering what happened in the dying stages of its clash with St Peter’s. The Vikings looked to have their run chase well in control as Jack Clapham (71) and James Syddall (50) put on 110 runs to bring the side within 10 runs of victory at 5-210. But as Clapham fell, Alexander Thomson then lost 4-4 with three balls remaining to lose in heartbreaking fashion.

Bell Park joined Torquay as the only two undefeated sides in GCA2, beating Modewarre by six wickets. Bailey Kelly took 4-31 as the Dragons dismissed Modewarre for 126 in the 48th over, David Toft led the way with the bat, unbeaten on 56.

A dominant 85 from Corey Walter ensured Marshall gained the six points over Bell Post Hill, tracking down the 188-run total in the 46th over.
