WNBL season over for Geelong United
GEELONG United has completed its historic first season in the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL).
The club’s 2024-25 season ended on Sunday with a loss to the Adelaide Lightning (70-87).
Geelong was unable to get their game going for long stretches, nor stop the offensive prowess of Adelaide’s five key players.
Brianna Turner, Steph Talbot, Isabelle Bourne, Isobel Borlase and Japreece Dean all put up double digits in points.
Elissa Brett was United’s best player and went close to securing a double-double, scoring 18 points and collecting 9 rebounds.
Hannah Hank, Gemma Potter and Jazmin Shelley all scored more than 10 points for Geelong.
Geelong United finished the 2024-25 WNBL season tied for last on the table with six wins and 15 losses.
The players now turn their attention to the NBL1 South season, which begins on March 29.
