ROSS Creek Gallery has a new exhibition opening tomorrow (Saturday 29 November) featuring mother and daughter duo Jackie Gorring and Minna Graham.
Light Fandango will run until 28 December and features printmaking, sculpture and mixed media by Gorring and ceramics by Graham.
“I was interested in various art forms since I was a small child and started working on them after I finished art school in 1976,” Gorring said.
“My daughter Minna has been making sculptures for about 14 years.
“We come from a family of makers; parents and grandparents who made drawing and prints.
“And my son, who lives in New South Wales, is a sculptor.”
While working with different materials and approaches, Gorring and Graham’s works share a common exploration of lived experience, emotional resonance, and the interplay between inner and outer worlds.
“Gorring’s art reveals the extraordinary within the ordinary, and Graham’s sculptures spark wonder and introspection by confronting nature’s chaos,” Ruby Pilven from Ross Creek Gallery said.
“Their work explores the tension between order and disorder, highlighting how personal experiences shape their creative expressions.”
Gorring said she and Graham mostly exhibit separately but found the Ross Creek Gallery a beautiful space for a shared show.
“Ruby is lovely to work with, and the gallery offers great exposure for us,” she said.
Ross Creek Gallery is at 183 Post Office Road, Smythes Creek.
The exhibition is open every weekend 11am to 4pm and by appointment.
