THE Brothers Grimm classic fairytale Snow-White and Rose-Red is coming to town in the form of a new dance show.

Spark Productions is holding a contemporary dance performance on Saturday, 17 July at Federation University’s Founders Theatre.

Director of Spark Productions Alex Dellaportas said the performance is full of “magic, fear and courage”.

“I love bringing other young people together to create big things and learn about the industry together,” she said.

Snow and Rose also has an important message about dealing with trauma and big emotions and about balancing emotion and reason in one’s life, all things that are relevant to the young people we’re working with.”

Spark Productions comprises of youth dancers from eight to 25 years old, accompanied by a live orchestra.

The show Snow and Rose follows the lives of two sisters seeking solace in a friendly forest overtaken by an evil curse after the death of their father.

The show’s themes of family and difficult emotions are connected to the Victorian curriculum, making it the perfect production for schools.

After the show, Spark Productions will hold a Q and A session with a teacher resource pack for VCE dance, drama, or theatre studies students.

Schools also have the option of hosting a dance story workshop featuring performers from the show.

Snow and Rose is not only for children and youth, it was created by young people as part of our mission to celebrate the voices as artistic equals with important stories to tell. The show speaks to young hearts and minds,” said Dellaportas.
