GOLDEN Plains Shire staff are inviting residents to lend their thoughts on the municipality’s plans to beautify the some of the region’s key thoroughfares.

Community members are being asked to contribute to the development of the Northern Streetscapes Framework Plan, which is aimed at uplifting major streetscapes at Smythesdale, Scarsdale and Linton.

Mayor Cr Sarah Hayden encouraged residents to give their two cents on what they’d like achieved through the project.

“Thank you for joining us on this journey to create a sustainable Framework Plan that meets the needs of our northern communities,” she said.

“Your input has been valuable as we’ve refined concept designs for this exciting project, and we are thrilled to be one step closer in making this project a reality.

“I encourage residents to attend the information session to learn about the project’s progress and next steps, as we work towards construction.”

Feedback can be submitted until 5pm on Friday 14 March via goldenplains.vic.gov.au/consultations, or in-person at the municipality’s Customer Hubs at 2 Pope Street, Bannockburn, as well as at Smythesdale’s The Well at 19 Heales Street.

The tender for construction and delivery is expected to be developed following the current feedback period.

Since its adoption by council in April 2022, community consultation took place in August and November last year, which have shaped the current concept designs.

Shire staff had previously held two community surveys around the project in 2021.

An information session around the project was held for the community at The Well earlier this week.

The Northern Streetscapes Project is being funded with $650,000 from the municipality as well as $650,000 from Berrybank Wind Farm.
