Haddon dojo brings home five gold medals
MEMBERS of Haddon’s Shinkyokushin Karate dojo, Tamashii, have won five gold medals representing Australia at the Shinkyokushin Kokoro Cup held in Napier, New Zealand.
All local competitors at the full-contact Karate knockdown event won first place in each category they entered.
Nyree Wilson won the Kata intermediate division and Women’s Kumite lightweight, Sempai Lochlan Kent won the Men’s Kumite Open heavyweight light category, Jake Hateley won the Men’s Kumite intermediate middleweight division, and Kathy Patterson won Women’s Novice heavyweight category
“This is a fantastic achievement for our dojo and a reflection of the hard work and determination of our students,” said Shihan Peter Volke, who leads the 25-year-old dojo.
The dojo offers classes for children and adults on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and tours of the centre or a trial class can be organised by calling 0419 312 411.

Judged by World Shinkyokushin Kata champion Rina Tinaka, the competition included Kumite and Kata rounds. Tamashii Shinkyokushin Karate is a family-oriented, inclusive dojo for people of all backgrounds and ages.
