FREE and simple at home workouts are now only a Wi-Fi signal away.

While the Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre is temporarily closed, the City of Ballarat’s Sport and Active Living and BALC teams have launched the Get Active Health Hub.

The online fitness portal encourages families to keep themselves fit both physically and mentally, through a variety of workout videos and challenges.

Mayor Cr Ben Taylor said the Health Hub will benefit the community in many ways.

“During these challenging times it’s never been more important to look after our physical and mental health and wellbeing,” he said.

“The new Get Active Health Hub will inspire and motivate people to keep fit and healthy. It will also provide opportunities for many residents to discover new activities and hobbies.”

“The Hub will also give Ballarat residents new opportunities to connect with our BALC staff in unique and creative ways.”

Workout videos have been pre-recorded by BALC instructors and feature various drills focusing on lower body, upper body, core, stretching and more.

The BALC team have also provided a range of exercises using items around the house, such as dining chair squats, washing detergent lunges and bath towel rows.

Motivation tips, healthy recipes, fitness benefits and more are available on the Hub, with links to the Better Health Channel for further advice and help.

The community has also been offered free and full access to Les Mills On Demand until Sunday, 31 May, which provides more than 800 workouts.
