ONE meal at a time, Ballarat’s new delivery food service Good 4 U Meals is aiming to improve health.

The new start-up promises to deliver restaurant quality meals that are freshly prepared and health conscious to homes.

Founded by Ballarat’s own former Miss World finalist Georgina Gunn and her partner and personal trainer Johnny Seng, the initiative came naturally.

The idea struck the pair during COVID lockdown earlier this year when going out to restaurants and cafes for a meal was no longer a possibility.

Ms Gunn said they wanted to offer people the feeling of eating restaurant quality food without the worry of staying healthy by using local resources.

“During lockdown we thought restaurants might not be utilising their kitchens as much as they would like to,” she said.

“We contacted the Mercure and had a chat to them about how their kitchens were being used and about partnering up.

“We then worked with the chefs at the Mercure and a qualified nutritionist to put all of the recipes together.”

Their ethos at Good 4 U Meals is all about making healthy, tailored meals easy to access without compromising on taste.

Although the service seems comparable to other meal deliveries like Hello Fresh, the pair said the key difference is the restaurant quality and customisability of the food they offer.

“With others you have to make the meals yourself but with ours all of the meals are already prepared fresh,” said Mr Seng.

“We can cater our meals towards your lifestyle goals whether you’re trying to lose some weight, gain some muscle mass or eat clean and healthy.

“You can choose your own options from our menu according to what you want to achieve.”

In a 2017-18 survey, the Australian Bureau of Statistics’ found that 67 per cent of adults were overweight or obese, an increase from 63 per cent in 2014-15.

To raise Australia’s health standard, the pair not only want to offer a nutritious meal delivery service but also health education for their customers.

“We want people to know that healthy eating doesn’t have to be a chore, it can be delicious and fun,” Ms Gunn said.

“I’ve always been passionate about eating healthy but I always found it difficult to do with a busy lifestyle.

“Of course, we want to expand across Australia and have a large business but beyond that we want to be able to teach people that its good and fun to eat clean.”
