TAKE part in a unique culinary experience, including a picnic on Nimons Bridge, this February.

The event, which is organised by the Woady Yaloak Historical Society, is part of the region’s Forage and Feast Festival.

It is the second year the society is hosting the picnic.

“Everyone who went [last year] had an absolute ball and said they would like to do it again and see it continue,” Woady Yaloak Historical Society member Lin Hocking-Turnbull said.

To be held on Sunday 15 February, the event will begin from 10.30am at the Courthouse Hotel in Smythesdale. There will also be an opportunity for prior pick-up in Ballarat at Delacombe Town Centre and at Haddon Community Centre.

The tour will then go to the Royal Hotel in Linton with complimentary canapes and a drink.

Following that, the picnic on Nimons Bridge will begin with local food and two complimentary drinks.

The event will conclude at the Courthouse Hotel with live music and drinks, and drop-off at Haddon and Delacombe is available.

Nimons Bridge was built in 1890 as part of the Ballarat-Linton railway line and is more than 100 metres long, standing 19 metres above the Woady Yaloak River.

Ms Hocking-Turnbull said the event is about showcasing what the area has to offer.

“We’re quite a niche sort of area, we’re so close to Ballarat, it’s 15 minutes from Delacombe and people just don’t realise what we’ve got,” she said.

“It’s a great way to highlight businesses and different features in the land.”
