RETIREES and seniors across Bannockburn have finally been able to put a generous community grant to use.

The Combined Probus Club received $1528 from the Bannockburn and District Grants in the program’s first round in early 2020.

However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Probus Club was unable to properly utilise the funds until almost a year later.

Vice-president Shirley Wild said the group have put the money towards a variety of technological equipment.

“This grant has allowed us to purchase a new laptop which will be great for archiving and sharing club photos,” she said.

“We have also invested in a digital projector and screen. Our guest speakers usually like to run a digital presentation, so these purchases will make it a lot easier to accommodate for those presentations.”

The club of 28 members was not able to meet for most of 2020, besides a few socially distanced outings.

Ms Wild said the group was very grateful for the funding.

“On behalf of the Probus Club, I would like to thank the Bannockburn and District Grants and the wider community for their generosity and support.”

The social group meets on the first Monday of the month, where a guest speaker is featured.

Other social activities and outings are also scheduled periodically throughout the year, such as local morning teas and day trips to surrounding areas.
