ROCK and roll dancers are being invited to celebrate the New Year with the Ballarat Rockers in Smythesdale.

The event will feature live music by the Fabulous Fender Benders in what is set to be their last performance as a band.

There will also be tea and coffee available, a raffle, door prizes and attendees can bring their own drinks and nibbles.

“This is our first New Years Eve dance because a lot of the club travel to other clubs’ functions and we thought we’d have one close to home this year,” said president John Morris.

“As it turned out the band we’ve chosen has decided this gig will be there last one after performing for 25 years.”

Mr Morris said he hopes people can come together, have a fun time and celebrate the start of 2024.

“The object of rock and roll dancing is to have a good time, enjoy the music and enjoy the good company,” he said.

Mr Morris has been involved with the club for more than 25 years and said he has formed many new connections through the group.

“I’ve been involved with the club since 1996 and I’ve actually been president since 1999,” he said. “I treat it like part of the family with lots of good friends and it’s a great environment.

“It’s something my wife and I and the family can do together.”

The event will kick off from 8pm on Sunday 32 December at The Woady Yaloak Recreation Facility in Smythesdale.

Tickets can be purchased via trybooking.com.
