A CONCEPT design for a new bowl section at the Bannockburn Skate Park has been developed as part of the next stage in space’s upgrade.

Now the community can give feedback on the design, which includes multiple hip sections and deep and shallow ends, until 9am on Monday, 1 May

The addition of the bowl will involve an extension of the park with the aim of providing increased opportunities for intermediate and experienced skaters, BMXers and other users.

Additional infrastructure such as lighting, furniture, landscaping and shelter will also be added to the facility as part of the upgrade.

Funding for the project was secured in October last year with money coming via the State Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund.

Golden Plains Shire mayor Cr Brett Cunningham said he was delighted to be able to extend the park.

“The community told us that they wanted to see a skate bowl as part of Bannockburn Skate Park upgrade project, and, thanks to funding from the Victorian State Government, we are excited to be able to deliver that,” he said.

“Council welcomes residents’ feedback on the concept design and we look forward to the construction of the design as the next stage of the Bannockburn Skate Park upgrade.

“The Bannockburn Skate Park is an impressive recreation facility for young people in our shire and the construction of the skate bowl will be a valuable addition that we know residents, and visitors to the Shire will all enjoy.”

The addition of a bowl comes after a nearly half-a-million dollars’ worth of upgrades at the location in 2021 saw a street/park section added along with other works.

Feedback on the designs can be provided via the municipality’s website.
