A HEALTHY, active lifestyle is not just for those who are big enough to be on their feet.
Move Your Way – Baby Steps is set to be run throughout autumn in Golden Plains Shire, inviting mums, dads, grandparents, carers, and their babies to get active.
The municipal initiative is designed to help those raising an infant to easily access exercise opportunities without having to find a babysitter; they just bring them along.
The calendar of weekly mat Pilates and yoga, and baby sensory sessions have an aim to encourage health and wellbeing, and socialisation.
“Move Your Way – Baby Steps is a fantastic initiative that aims to improve mental and physical wellbeing for parents and caregivers and provides an opportunity for social connection by reducing obstacles to local physical activity opportunities,” said Golden Plains Shire mayor, Cr Brett Cunningham.
“Childcare limitations and lack of time can make it difficult for parents and caregivers to find time to exercise, so a key focus of this program is bub friendly activities with local facilitators who have a passion for helping people move better and feel stronger.”
Move Your Way – Baby Steps will run for six weeks in Bannockburn, Lethbridge, Meredith, and Smythesdale, from Monday 4 March to Friday 12 April.
Due to limited places, registrations at the municipal website are essential, but the first 30 registered attendees will be gifted a free yoga mat as an incentive.
More information can be found at the Shire’s website, or by contacting the health and wellbeing department via [email protected] or 5220 7111.
