ALL-time leading A-League goal scorer Besart Berisha is on the hunt for another club after departing Western United.

Berisha scored 26 goals in 50 games across United’s first two seasons, including scoring the expansion club’s first ever goal, but will depart after completing his contract.

“On behalf of the Western United players, staff, members and partners, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Bes for everything that he has done for the club in its first two seasons,” said United general manager of football Mal Impiombato.

“On the field, Bes played 50 games for the club and scored 26 goals, something he can be extremely proud of.

“However, off the field it is Bes’ professionalism, dedication and leadership that makes him the champion that he is.”

The 35-year-old’s next move is unclear after a decorated playing career.

Berisha previously spent three seasons at Brisbane Roar and four at Melbourne Victory, winning four championships, two premierships and an FFA Cup.

After a short, difficult stint at J League club Sanfrecce Hiroshima, he returned to the A-League with United, extending his record to 142 goals in 236 games.

He scored 19 goals in 27 games in 2019/20 but tallied just seven last season.

United, who have appointed John Aloisi as head coach, have already secured a young group of forwards for next season.

Former Brisbane Roar youngster Dylan Wenzel-Halls signed on a three-year deal in June, joining Olyroos Dylan Pierias and Lachie Wales in United’s attacking stocks.
