Big weekend on the road for cycling club

October 18, 2018 BY

EUREKA Cycling had over 45 members participate in events on Saturday, 13 and Sunday, 14 October.

The club conducted the final round of the Oscar’s Hotel and Cafe Bar criterium series on Saturday morning at Victoria Park.
Numbers were low due to the many conflicting cycling events, however the 13 riders still raced fiercely in the wind which did not abate.

Twelve Eureka members competed in events at the Victorian Road Cycling Championships which Eureka co-hosted with Ballarat Sebastopol Cycling Club. Individual Time Trial and Road Races were staged on circuits around Learmonth.

Over 200 competitors from around the state competed. Forty volunteers from the two cycling clubs, as well as the Ballarat Dragon Boat Club, helped deliver a safe and successful event despite the wind.

10 Eureka members also raced at the Warrnambool Open on Sunday. Greg Ley finished in tenth place.
