GEELONG CEO Steve Hocking said the club is working on a few “final things” before officially announcing Chris Scott’s contract extension.

The Cats senior coach is currently out of contract at the end of the 2022 season, with reports late in 2021 indicating he was on the cusp of penning a two-year contract extension.

Hocking said there was “nothing untoward” around the delay in announcing his extension, insisting the club was still working through the intricate details of the deal.

“There’s an agreement in place between Chris and our club,” he said on SEN’s Dwayne’s World.

“I’m on record in saying that prior to Christmas, people want to potentially see a signature, but these things take a bit longer. There’s nothing untoward, we’re just working on a couple of final things.

“He’s committed here and committed to Geelong, we have clearly made change around Chris [in the off-season].

“Change hasn’t just happened in the AFL program but with the women’s program as well.”

Scott has been at the helm at Geelong since 2011, winning the premiership in his debut year.
