City face big test on the road

May 8, 2019 BY

Sunbury vs. North Ballarat City

AFTER coming off the bye, North Ballarat will be looking to bounce back from their dramatic one-point loss to the Lakers a couple of weeks ago in the McDonalds Ballarat Football League seniors.

City are set to make the tough trip down the highway to play the Lions this weekend.

Sunbury fought hard against their Lion counterparts last week and will be desperate to get the victory in front of their home fans to keep their finals aspirations alive.

Alik Magin continues to be Sunbury’s best week after week and ‘Mr Magic’ will need all his tricks to drag his side across the line in this one. Prediction – Sunbury in a nail bitter.

East Point vs. Sebastopol

THE Kangaroo juggernaut continues to improve as the reigning premiers remain undefeated in the comp. Brad Whittaker leads the way in the goal kicking department with two bags of seven highlighting his impressive return to form this season.

Sebas will be eager to recall club captain, Tom Peterson, to try and stifle his influence and hope to find better avenues to goal after struggling to hit the scoreboard in the early parts of this year. Prediction – East Point… might be closer than most people expect.

Bacchus Marsh vs. Ballarat

BOTH sides remain winless in 2019 with the Cobras season hanging by a thread after a disappointing performance under lights against Melton last weekend.

Their potent forward line is yet to fire, but will be boosted by the opportunity to play the side with the flakiest defence to date in the Ballarat Football Netball league. T

he Swans start to the season has gone to bad to worse with the departure of boom recruit, Ash Munari, who is now the third swan to leave already since the start of the season. Prediction – Bacchus Marsh by 30 points plus.

Redan vs. Lake Wendouree

ALREADY the surprise story of 2019, Redan are looking to make it three from three as they host an ever-improving Laker outfit this weekend. A fully fit Orren Stephenson has been key in their resurgence up the ladder this year.

The Lakers will once again look to make it a scrappy affair and hope the likes of Josh Bibby and Lachie O’Connell can hold the high scoring Lions. Prediction – Redan by 18 points.

Melton vs. Darley

NO doubt game of the round this week as the Bloods host the ladder leading Devils this weekend at McPherson Park.

Melton’s tough start to the season is dependent on this weekend’s result as a loss puts them already two wins off the pace.

Co-Captain Ben Archard will most likely miss with a hamstring strain; whilst the Devils coach, Heath Scotland, sits at 50-50 chance to play for the first time this season.

The combination of the Graham brothers may be too much for any side to handle this year as the club’s quest for a third premiership flag in five years remains firmly on the cards.

Prediction – Darley in a classic.
