Ballarat v North Ballarat

Match of the round in the McDonald’s Ballarat Football League as third host fifth in an all top six affair this Saturday afternoon at Alfredton Reserve.

Ballarat survived a scare last weekend against competition’s cellar dwellers in Lake Wendouree with six goals from Rhys Perry saving the Swannies in yet another tight match for them this season.

North Ballarat kicked the first seven goals of the game against East Point last time out but were over ran in the last three quarters to go down in defeat.

Sam Glover booted five with the Collingwood VFL listed player expected to go back means it’s hard to see North pinching victory away from home this weekend.

Prediction: Ballarat in a tight one.

Darley v East Point

Crunch time for the Devils as Dan Jordan goes up against the club he helped make famous in the Ballarat Football League in a game that is essentially putting their season on the line.

The Devils have the toughest run out of any finals hopefuls with one major scalp needed if they want to feature in the post season.

For the second straight week the Kangas conceded seven goals in the opening quarter of footy.

It is vital that Jake Bridges can get his players to get off to a much-improved start and to stop relying on the Johnston brothers to dig them out of a hole.

Prediction: East Point by 24 points.

Melton South v Sunbury

An all Eastern Bloc affair here with the panthers looking to avoid embarrassment for the second straight week as they host the Lions the Melton Recreation Reserve.

Failing to win a game in season 2022 at the Den and the news breaking mid-week with the shock retirement to spearhead and 2021 Tony Lockett Medallist, Dylan Conway, this one will be all about pride and a competitive scoreboard with Sunbury expected to flex a muscle and move up the table.

Prediction: Sunbury in a landslide.

Redan v Lake Wendouree

Revenge would have to be on the minds for the Lions as the Lakers sole victory of the 2022 season came against Redan in Good Friday football.

Both sides will go in with some confidence with the Lions back on the winner’s list defeating Darley last weekend and the bottom placed Lakers putting in a competitive showing against the much more fancied Ballarat Swans.

Redan have more to play for here with a win moving them one game outside the competition’s top six.

A big win could improve their inferior percentage so expect Liam Hoy to be rushed back after missing the last month with a hamstring complaint.

Prediction: Redan comfortably.

Bacchus Marsh, Melton and Sebastopol all have byes in round 15.
